#Research[Research Results] Our faculty member's paper has been published in an international journal - when to start antihypertensive drugs for hypertension discovered during medical examinations and the effect of preventing cardiovascular disease ―
A paper in which Professor Kazumi Kubota of Faculty of Data Science participated as a collaborator has been published online in Hypertension Research (2024 Impact Factor: 4.6).
In this study, we analyzed by age group using large-scale real-world data to determine when antihypertensive drugs should be started for high blood pressure detected during medical examinations and how timing will affect future cardiovascular events.
Point of Research
- Analyze the tracking data of patients undergoing medical examinations and compare the early introduction of antihypertensive drugs and delay introduction.
- The effects were examined for each younger, middle-aged, and elderly, suggesting that early intervention was effective in middle-aged people, especially in middle-aged people.
- Provide empirical knowledge that will contribute to future primary prevention strategies and guidelines.
Author's Comment
"In this study, we aimed to utilize data obtained from medical examinations that are familiar to anyone, and to draw out insights useful for practical clinical practice. Identifying when intervention is most effective with the power of data science is a major theme that is directly linked to future cardiovascular disease prevention. Shimonoseki City University is conducting research open to the community and society, and this achievement is one of them. "
