A paper in which Professor Kazumi Kubota of Faculty of Data Science participated as a collaborator has been published online in Hypertension Research (2024 Impact Factor: 4.6).

In this study, we analyzed by age group using large-scale real-world data to determine when antihypertensive drugs should be started for high blood pressure detected during medical examinations and how timing will affect future cardiovascular events.

Point of Research

• Analyze the tracking data of patients undergoing medical examinations and compare the early introduction of antihypertensive drugs and delay introduction.
• The effects were examined for each younger, middle-aged, and elderly, suggesting that early intervention was effective in middle-aged people, especially in middle-aged people.
• Provide empirical knowledge that will contribute to future primary prevention strategies and guidelines.

Identifying when intervention is most effective with the power of data science is a major theme that is directly linked to future cardiovascular disease prevention.
