On November 6, 2025, the delegation of Shimonoseki City University made an official visit to Batu City, East Java Province, Indonesia, to discuss common issues between the two cities and the direction of future cooperation. In this visit, a new international cooperation concept centered on "agrifood business" and "tourism business" was presented.
The city of Batu has a rich natural environment, agricultural resources, and local culture, but has not fully utilized its potential, and there are similar circumstances in Shimonoseki, where the university is located.
In order to solve these issues, Shimonoseki City University collaborated with universities, research institutes and companies in both cities to propose a new business model that combines agrifood and tourism. In the future, we plan to promote regional economic development and international academic exchange through joint research, collaboration with local companies, and practical learning of students.
This concept is expected to be a new model case for regional revitalization, where universities play a central role in connecting the possibilities between cities.
