Message from the Dean

We live our daily lives using various things and services.
It is the economic system that coordinates the distribution of goods for society as a whole. Many regions, including Japan, are trying to run society smoothly by entrusting much of the allocation to free trade by economic entities and making direct and indirect corrections when problems arise. In Department of Economics, students learn how to allocate resources across society.
On the other hand, looking at specific organizations such as companies and organizations, each organization considers the allocation of various management resources in order to achieve their objectives. People with diverse skills seek to provide new value to society by providing products and services to customers while sharing and cooperating with each other. In Department of International Commerce, students learn about the operation and business transactions of such organizations.
At Department of Public Management, students will learn about the resource allocation system of society as a whole, knowledge of organizational management and commerce, as well as knowledge of areas related to public policy, such as law, politics, and administration. Students will be able to think about social issues and solutions from a wide range of perspectives, and acquire the ability to contribute to the realization of a better society under their respective positions.
At Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Economics, students learn about economic, organizational and social mechanisms through these three departments. Students who have studied basic subjects in each department will choose and study applied subjects themselves. We aim to develop highly skilled professionals who can respond to new challenges that have never been experienced before by creating their own educational programs and gaining experience in line with them.
