From the Taisho era to the Showa era, the history and culture of the fishery city Shimonoseki.

ML Cooperation Panel Exhibition

Exhibition at the 2nd floor of Library and Study Center Building (Library) (You can freely view it until January 31, 2025)

The history and culture of the fishery city Shimonoseki will be traced from the Taisho era to the Showa era, focusing on photographs of the former Hayashikane Shoten and the former Ocean Fishery (currently Maruha Nichiro) owned by the university.
The photos include valuable photographs such as the Hikojima refrigerator ice making room and ice maker taken during the Taisho era, and the whaling ship under construction that symbolizes the city of whales.
We hope that this opportunity will give you an opportunity to learn about the history of the fishing industry and related industries that have supported Shimonoseki, and to expand the history and culture of a fishery city.
