How to use

Loans

Please bring the materials you want to borrow and your student ID card (user ID) to the counter.
Materials that are out of the band cannot be borrowed, so please use them in the museum.

  • Books can be omitted separately from the normal loan limit for special research such as writing papers.
    Please fill in the required form and submit it to the counter.

Returned

Please bring the materials to be returned to the counter.
It is also possible to post it to the return box installed at the front entrance on the 1st floor of the main building.

  • Take a book wet with water, etc., directly to the library counter.
  • Those with attached materials such as CDs should be returned at the counter along with the book and CD.

If returned after the deadline, you will not be able to borrow a new one for the excess days.
If the number of days exceeds 60 days, you will not be able to enter.
If it is difficult to return within the deadline due to a illness accident, etc., please contact the library.

Extended

You can extend it once only if there is no reservation in the material you want to extend.
The following materials cannot be extended.

  • Successary publications (magazine, university bulletin)
  • Books that have already been extended (up to once)
  • Books borrowed from special bands

Reservation

If the material you want to borrow is already on loan, you can make a reservation. Fill out the required form and submit it to the counter. Alternatively, you can make a reservation from My Portal.

Copying

Materials held in the OIST Library can be copied within the scope of copyright.
A copier is installed in the reading room on the second floor. Please be sure to submit the application documents at the counter before use.
The charge for copying is 10 yen per sheet (monochrome only).
The corresponding size is A4, A3, B5, and B4.

Please observe the following.

  • The materials must be in possession of the University. (Notes and carry-in materials are not allowed.)
  • The published work must be part of the work, not all.
  • Periodical publications (including newspapers) must be other than the latest issue.
  • The number of copies is only a part per person, and should not be re-copy.
  • It is for the purpose of research of users.

We accept the following questions and consultations, such as how to use the library and material search.

Application for book purchase (students only)

You can apply for the purchase of books necessary for research, education or learning.
Please fill in the required form and submit it to the counter.
Teachers have a separate form, so please contact Library Division.

Language AV room

Audiovisual materials such as CDs, DVDs, and videos held at our library can be used.
If you wish to use the service, please fill out the required form and submit it to the counter.
In principle, one use time shall be within 2 hours.
You will not be able to play the game.

Group study room (for university students only)

It can be used by about 2 to 10 people.
Reservation is required, and reservations can be made two weeks before the desired date of use. Please fill in the required form and submit it to the counter.
For application on the day, it can be used if there is a vacant room and no reservation is made.
One use time is, in principle, within one class unit (90 minutes).

Internet PC (for university students only)

Various databases can be used.
Please fill in the required form and submit it to the counter.
One use time is in principle one hour. If there are no other applicants, you can extend the service for one hour.

  • The database that needs to be on campus can also be accessed from the computer training room.

Mutual use (on campus only)

If you would like to visit a library of another institution.

In most cases, a letter of introduction from your university is required in advance.
Please contact the library counter with plenty of time before visiting and issue a letter of introduction will be issued.
Be sure to carry your student ID card and a letter of introduction when visiting another building.

If you want to get a book from another library

It can be used if there is no possession at the university, so please check the holdings at the university first.
Materials borrowed from other libraries can be used only in the library. You can't take it out of the museum.
Please fill in the required form and submit it to the counter.
Costs such as shipping costs will be borne by the client.

If you want to get a copy from another library

It can be used if there is no possession at the university, so please check the holdings at the university first.
For copying, it is necessary to specify the location you want to copy.

  • Book title or magazine name
  • In the case of a magazine, the date of issue or the number of volumes
  • Paper name, author name, number of pages corresponding to

Costs such as copying fees and postage costs will be borne by the client.

You need to set a password when you log in for the first time. (The same procedure is also used when you forget your password and reissue it.)

② Enter your student ID number and press [Send].

③ Click the URL in the "Password Issuance Confirmation" email delivered to the university email address. Enter your student ID number again.

④ A temporary password will be issued, so enter your student ID number and temporary password on the login screen in 1. ※Take notes to use it until you change your password in My Portal

⑤ You can check your own usage status, book reservations, purchase requests, and mutual use (ILL).

Functions

Inquiry of personal usage status

You can see the lending status, reservation status, book purchase application, literature copying / borrowing request status, and lending history (for the past year).

My book list

You can add it to your book list from the OPAC search result screen.

Document copying and lease application

You can apply for a request for documents and books from other university libraries.

Library purchase application

You can request books that you want to prepare for the library. The purchase will be decided after examination by the library director.
