Looking at society through economics
We live our daily lives using various goods and services.
It is the economic system that coordinates the distribution of goods throughout society. Many regions, including Japan, entrust much of their distribution to free transactions by economic entities, and are trying to run society smoothly by modifying them directly or indirectly when problems arise. At Department of Economics, we will learn the allocation of resources throughout society.
On the other hand, when we turn to specific organizations such as companies and organizations, each organization considers the allocation of various management resources in order to achieve their objectives. People with diverse positions are working to provide products and services to customers and provide new value to society through division of labor and cooperation. In Department of International Commerce, you will learn about the operation and commerce of such organizations.
At Department of Public Management, students will learn about the system of resource allocation of society as a whole, knowledge of organizational management and commerce, as well as knowledge of areas related to public policy such as law, politics and administration. Students will be able to think about social problems and solutions from a wide range of perspectives, and acquire the ability to contribute to the realization of a better society under their respective positions.
Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Economics learns the economic, organizational and social structure through these three departments. Students who have studied basic subjects in each department choose their own applied subjects to study. By creating our own educational programs and gaining the experience we have learned along with them, we aim to develop highly skilled professionals who can respond to new issues that we have never experienced before.
