As a measure to reduce tuition fees, there is a system to reduce or exempt tuition fees to be paid for each term (spring and autumn semesters). In addition to the reduction of taxes, there is a system such as the payment of tuition fees.
The tuition reduction system has the following system.

1. Based on the "Law Concerning Support for Studying at Universities", "Reduction of tuition fees under the new system for supporting higher education" (you can also receive scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization.) For details, please refer to the new system for supporting study in higher education (link).
   　
2. Reduction of tuition fees in consideration of damage caused by disasters　※Please contact Student Support Division first.
   　OIST has a system to reduce or exempt tuition fees in the event that a person who pays tuition fees falls under (1) below due to a disaster.
   （１） Target Person who suffered damage to house or household goods more than half-broken due to earthquake, storm and flood damage, fire or other disaster
   　　　(Only once per disaster within one year prior to application)
   （２） Reduction of taxes Up to half of the tuition fee for the semester
   （３） Application acceptance period Acceptance at any time
   （４） Application procedures Submit application documents to the Student Support Division window

4. Reduction of tuition fees for graduate students and special major students
   （１） Requirements When it is judged that academic achievement is good and that there is a possibility of completing the course in the shortest period of enrollment　　
   （２） Date of application
   　　　　Spring semester: Early to mid-April
   　　　　Autumn semester: Early to mid-September
   （３） Submit application documents to Student Support Division by the deadline
   （４） We will inform you by e-mail from Student Support Division at the time of application.
