Intent of production

Based on the motif of "S" in Shimonoseki, Shinbo Rises the topography of Shimonoseki and the symbol of the region, "Kanmon Straits". The aim is to appeal the spirit of "rooting in the community and aiming for the world" which is the philosophy of "rooting in the community and aiming for the world" by "center circle and two "S"", which represent the individuality and inquisitive spirit cultivated and nurtured in the local climate, which are cultivated and nurtured in the local climate.

The circle at the center symbolizes the university rooted in the community and symbolizes the light of the independent personality of each student. About adding a new symbol mark

Regarding the new symbol mark (1), this mark symbolizes the character "Seki" and consists of curves reminiscent of the waves of Kanmon Straits. The waves represent the sea, which is the foundation that Shimonoseki has prospered for a long time, and symbolize the "flow of time" that connects the history and future of the city. In addition, the open shape represents the university's vision of expanding into the future with a higher perspective while being rooted in the local community.

 Next, the new symbols (2) and (3) express the appearance of Shimonoseki City University's "ship" proceeding through the strait and opening up new roads. The sea is the source of Shimonoseki's identity and is closely linked to the history and industry of the region. In addition, "Whale" symbolizes the future of the university, expresses its stance of steadily advancing into the future, and its determination to develop with the community.

 In addition, the white flowers of Hamayu (Hama cotton) symbolize "spiritless heart" and "honest learning", indicating the possibility that the knowledge of the university will spread to the region and the world. The brown used in the new symbol mark (3) is reminiscent of a historic university architecture, and expresses the attitude of steadily cultivating knowledge.

The slogan is “Contribute to the development of local and international communities by teaching and research in comprehensive knowledge and specialized academics, as well as by fostering talented human resources rooted in the community and through education and research aimed at the world.”…The aim is to widely appeal the university's philosophy as a more intuitive vision.

"Kanmon Straits" is a symbol of Shimonoseki and the base of its identity. The wish is that the wisdom of young people gathered on this rare land and nurtured by the climate will spread to the world more widely than this land, aiming for a far future.
