Kim Hans (International student from Korea)

I think it really ended very quickly. The fun time feels short, so I think I had a good study abroad life. For me as a Japanese-Korea half, Japan is a familiar place, but I was worried about living alone abroad. However, thanks to the teachers and friends around me, I think I was able to finish my study abroad safely. In particular, the tutor helped me so much that I didn't have enough words of gratitude. From various procedures, we helped each other's issues, and made takoyaki together. He was a really reliable tutor.
Later, I came to study abroad, and I was confident in Japanese. Originally, I was worried because I was not confident in the conversation, but I was happy to be able to practice conversation by talking with teachers and friends in class, and to study respect and humble words that I was not good at.
It was a short period of half a year of exchange study abroad, but I think the experience, study, and memories that can only be achieved by coming to Japan will be important things that cannot be forgotten. I am grateful and sorry for the help of everyone around me when I came to Japan, but I am sure it was a happy half year. I would definitely recommend it to students who are lost in studying abroad. Finally, when the impact of COVID-19 subsides, Shimonoseki is close to my hometown of Pusan, so I would like to come to see everyone again. Thank you very much.

Mr. Imgan (International student from Korea)

When I came to Japan, I was alone, so I was worried that I could understand my Japanese, and I was nervous because I was worried about contracting an apartment. However, I was very relieved that Mr. Nishimura of International Exchange Center came to pick me up and helped me. Especially when I was quarantined due to COVID-19, I really took care of you. Tutors and International Exchange Center always helped me in difficult and difficult times. Also, in Korea, I didn't have the opportunity to speak Japanese, so I wasn't confident in the conversation, but everyone spoke kindly, and if there were any words I didn't understand, I learned a lot. I understand the missing parts of my Japanese language. I went out with my Japanese friends and learned the words of young people who could not understand Japanese culture and study while playing. I became friends not only with Japanese students but also with international students from various countries to teach and interact with each other's culture and language. Imyuri (International student from Korea)

When I came to study abroad from Korea, I set my goal to make many Japanese friends. First of all, I would like to thank the many friends who have achieved this goal. I think that the reason that I was able to make many friends is because of the existence of circle activities. After joining the Rubber Baseball Club, I tried to actively promote myself. Also, by starting a part-time job and working hard together, I think that I was able to build a lot of friendship by having friends introduce new friends. In classes, I think that not only listening to Japanese classes, but also taking classes that Japanese people actually take, including sports practice, also broadened their friendship. In addition, one of the reasons why I made many friends because I was Korean and interested in Korea were interested in me.
One year of study abroad was not only a language study, but also a fulfilling time to have a lot of experience and make memories. On weekends, I went to Karato-ichiba to eat sushi, climb Mt. Hino-yama to enjoy the night view of Kanmon Straits, and go to Kokura by train to buy fashionable clothes. I think that a lot of time with this important friend will remain in my heart as a study abroad life at Shimonoseki City University, which I will never forget. Finally, I would like to thank the teachers of International Exchange Center for their great help in studying abroad. From big problems to small problems, he kindly listened to the story and solved it. Living apart from my family, International Exchange Center made me feel the warmth of my family. It was the only safe place when I was worried. I will definitely return to Shimonoseki to meet teachers like my family and important friends. Stay well until we meet again! Bye!

Mr. Ichebin (International student from Korea)

I dreamed of studying in Japan, but when I decided to study abroad, I was a little scared to live in Japan alone. I thought that I would give up many times, but I always wanted to study in Japan, so I was prepared to stay in Japan. When I arrived in Japan on a plane alone, I was not alone. I had a friend of a tutor who came to Fukuoka Airport to pick me up. At that moment, my heart calmed down very much. When I arrived at Shimonoseki City University in a taxi, the teachers in International Exchange Center helped me adapt well. Also, while participating in the various experiences prepared in International Exchange Center, I met other international students and became friends. During my study abroad, I was able to make a lot of such important relationships. Thanks to you, I had a lot of experience in Shimonoseki in Japan. All I worried about before I came to study abroad is like a lie, I only remember happy memories. All the classes I took at Shimonoseki City University were helpful to me. Through cultural A classes, I learned a lot about Shimonoseki and the history of Japan, and through a variety of Japanese classes, I developed my ability to speak Japanese, one of my objectives for studying in Japan. It was a good opportunity to develop as a student at Shimonoseki City University while taking various classes such as culture, sports, and computers as well as Japanese language classes.
During my six months of study abroad, I had a lot of help from friends of international students, friends of tutors and teachers of International Exchange Center. I was able to finish my study abroad safely thanks to the help of those people. Thank you very much for creating important experiences, memories and relationships for me. We value memories of studying abroad at Shimonoseki City University!
Have you worked hard while studying abroad?
It was the first time I listened to all classes in Japanese except for Japanese classes, so I seemed to have worked hard to understand and participate in the class. I also worked hard to do a variety of activities that can only be experienced in Japan.
What's good about studying abroad?
After all, I think it was the best experience to be able to make many Japanese friends. In addition to the tutor's friends, you can join a circle to make friends, meet various friends during class, go to a cafe with friends, go to play with friends, etc. It was a very good experience to have.
Did you have a hard time studying abroad?
I was worried when I had to make a contract for important documents, such as resident registration, health insurance application, and other important documents because everything had to be done in Japanese rather than in my native language. However, International Exchange Center teachers kindly taught me and helped me solve it. Also, I am really grateful for the help of my tutor friends as well.
How was your friend's relationship while studying abroad?
I made a lot of really important friends while studying abroad. The best thing about coming to study abroad is that I have a lot of good friends. All of the exchange students' friends are kind, kind and good friends, so I'm very lucky to be able to make such a connection. Also, my tutor friends and other Japanese friends are very kind and warm people, so I think I was very happy during my study abroad.
What should I do while studying abroad?
If you come to Japan, I think it's better to travel around Japan to see the unique culture and cultural properties that can only be experienced in Japan. I couldn't go to many parts of Japan in a short exchange period of six months, but the places of travel with my friends and the culture I experienced together will remain as an unforgettable memory for many years. So, while you're in Japan, I think it's a good idea to go to various regions and experience various things.
What subjects did you take while studying abroad?
I took not only Japanese classes but also various classes such as culture A, computer, sports, Japanese C, Japanese affairs, Japanese practical training. Through cultural classes, I was able to learn about the history and culture of Shimonoseki, and through sports classes, I was able to do sports that I had never done in Korea. In addition, it was an opportunity to improve my Japanese skills through Japanese language classes.
A word to the students of Shimonoseki City University!
Hello. My name is Ichebin of the Faculty of Japanese Creative Arts and Sciences, Busan Univ. of Foreign Studies. For six months, I took a class with you as a special lecturer at Shimonoseki City University. Maybe some people took classes together, and some people couldn't meet because they didn't have the opportunity. I think the people of Shimonoseki City University are kind and warm. They all gave me a warm experience. I'm really happy to come here to study abroad. It was a short period of 6 months, but it was really fun to spend time together and we will go back to play again! Thank you very much.
Mr. Winter of International Commerce (International Student from China)
Please come to Shimonoseki City University!
Before I came to Japan, I worked for 2 years at the thermoelectric company in Bo. I came to visit my sister who lives in Japan for the first time, and was surprised to see the elaborate products and beautiful scenery of Japan, so I decided to study in Japan.
Now that I am studying abroad, I am balancing work and study. In part-time jobs, I was able to learn while gaining experience, such as how Japanese people work seriously and store management. When I took the university exam, there were times when I thought that I was really tired of studying in Japan and entrance exams. However, through my university life, I am able to meet people from various countries, and enjoy a fulfilling university life while enjoying the fun of international exchange.
At Shimonoseki City University, students are close to each other. You can study not only during class, but also in the study room of the library with people from various countries. In addition to specialized knowledge, you can improve your language skills while understanding the differences between national and national cultures.
Shimonoseki City is an important part of the Kanmon metropolitan area and has a close connection with Kitakyusyu, making it convenient to live. This is a town where you can see the beautiful sea while eating delicious food, and it is very livable.
I took the exam at Shimonoseki City University and fell once, but I had a strong dream to come to this university and tried again to fulfill my dream. Youth has a deadline. Please try what you want to do without regret before the deadline expires.
Department of International Commerce Imuran Ali (International student from Pakistan)
"Speaking of Shimonoseki, it's a fugu!" "No, no! Shimonoseki is not a fuku!"
This is the third year since I came to Shimonoseki. Looking back, I have learned a lot from Shimonoseki City, the people who live here, and the unique culture that takes root. I think that now I, who studied at Shimonoseki City University, can grow better than I grew up through studying at an urban university. Because it is Shimonoseki, there are many activities to protect the local culture, and there are many events that try to bring out the charm. Festivals such as the Shimonoseki Strait Festival, the Genpei Festival, and the Maguan Festival attract Shimonoseki, talk about the deep history and think it is very interesting, so I go to see it every year! The history of Japan is very interesting…But it's hard! I thought it was me, but just by participating in such festivals and events little by little, I became able to understand naturally. It's fun and very interesting to understand.
History is not only attractive, there are many natural sightseeing spots, and I think people who like sightseeing can be very satisfied. And finally, fug! I don't think you can understand the deliciousness of Shimonoseki's fuku unless you eat it once, so we recommend that you come to Shimonoseki and eat it. I saw such fun events and everyday life, and people trying to spread it to the world while protecting Shimonoseki's culture, and found what I wanted to do. I hope you will find it too!
International Commerce and Industry (International student from Korea)
A university that is small but has everything that needs to be and can grow steadily
I was majored in the Japanese language department at a Korean university, but when I went to a Japanese language school after military service and returned to university, I was surprised that there were many students who couldn't read katakana or kanji and were not motivated. I consulted with my teacher and decided to study abroad in Japan with encouragement. I was worried about whether I could keep up with Japanese life and classes, but this problem was solved because the curriculum that allows me to learn Japanese required in class in the first year and other support for international students is well established. In addition, although our university is a college and small in size, we have many opportunities to get to know each other and make friends easily.
Regarding the student's consciousness, in the career design class I took in the second year, when I talked about employment with the student next seat, I already met a company every week as a measure to get a job, and I heard that "I'm thinking about what I need." When I heard that, I was shocked that I was thinking about my future. I was not motivated by my study abroad life, and I was able to spare no effort to set goals and practice them. Now I am thinking seriously about my future, as well as becoming an international student tutor, working hard to support and stimulate my juniors.
Mr. Yirin (International student from China)
What I would like to convey to those who are considering going to Shimonoseki City University
Shimonoseki City University is a university only in Faculty of Economics, so it is easy to get involved with teachers and students, students and students. In addition, classes are enriched, so you can learn a wide range of management strategies, marketing, trade, etc. Moreover, the employment rate is higher. I think it's very attractive.
After experiencing actual study abroad life, I thought "good!" was the one-to-one "international student tutor system". At City University, there is a system in which one international student tutor is attached to each international student. You can support everything from studying at university to daily life. When I was living alone for the first time, I had a person who could consult immediately when I was in trouble, and it was very helpful. At that time, my international student tutor was Japanese, so thanks to everyday interaction, my Japanese conversation skills improved.
Another thing I thought was "good!" was International Exchange Center on campus. Each year, City University has international students from various countries such as China, South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, Germany, and Turkey. International Exchange Center staff support each of these international students. I was very relieved because I was always kind to respond when I had any concerns or concerns. You can also participate in local activities and international events through International Exchange Center. Thanks to this, I have more opportunities to experience not only Japan but also the cultures of other countries.
In addition, there is a system to support the examination fee when taking a qualification test, so you can reduce the burden on students and concentrate on studying. There are a wide variety of circles and club activities, and there are many circles that welcome international students. There are many international students who live a fulfilling university life while balancing studies and circles.
In this way, Shimonoseki City University is a university that is kind and safe for international students. If you are unsure about studying in Japan, please consider Shimonoseki City University.
