Viewing society through economics

We use various things and services to live our daily lives.

It is the economic system that adjusts the allocation of goods in society as a whole. Many regions, including Japan, are trying to operate the society smoothly by entrusting much of the allocation to free trade by economic entities and making direct or indirect corrections in the event of a problem. In Department of Economics, you will learn how to allocate resources for society as a whole.

On the other hand, looking at specific organizations, such as companies and organizations, each organization considers the allocation of various management resources in order to achieve their objectives. People with diverse occupations are trying to provide products and services to customers and provide new value to society by providing products and services. In Department of International Commerce, you will learn about the operation of such organizations and commercial transactions.

In Department of Public Management, you will learn about the resource allocation mechanism of society as a whole and the knowledge of organizational management and commercial transactions, as well as knowledge of public policy, such as law, politics, and administration. Students will be able to think about social issues and their solutions from a wide range of perspectives, and acquire the ability to contribute to the realization of a better society in which they are in their own position.

Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Economics learns about economic, organizational and social mechanisms through these three subjects. Students who have studied basic subjects in each department will select and study applied subjects themselves. By creating their own educational programs and gaining the experience they have learned in line with them, we aim to develop highly skilled professionals who can respond to new issues that have never been experienced before.
