Purpose of the lecture
What books do you think of when you hear the word classic? Classics are not just literary works. There are books called classics in various academic fields such as economics and business administration that you are trying to study. They played a major role in shaping the current academic field, such as those that laid the foundation for establishing new academic disciplines and those that led to a major shift.
What does it mean to read the classics now? You can't understand the answer unless you actually read the classics.
In this lecture, we will focus on the classics of social sciences. The instructor talks about classics from each point of view, but that's just an opportunity for everyone to pick up the classics. Through this lecture, I would like you to think about how learning started and how it has changed, and what learning is.

Intensive lectures | 2 units |

Purpose of the lecture
In this lecture, the results of the Kanmon area joint research, which is a joint research between Kitakyusyu City University and Gifu University, will be disclosed to students and citizens.
This year, we will focus on two themes in a row.
Part 1 will give a lecture on the current status of social capital in the Kanmon area based on the research and research conducted in 2006. What social capitals are accumulated in the barrier area and how do they function? In addition to clarifying what social capital residents in the Kanmon area have in a questionnaire survey for residents, we will also try to capture the connection between Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City.
Part 2 is based on the research and research in 2007, and looks at the gate area after future decentralization reform. At present, decentralization reforms and debate on the provincial system are being promoted nationwide, but these functions have a variety of direct effects on local governments in the Kanmon area, as well as residents and the business community. In the age of decentralization, it is necessary for the region to independently examine its own future and send it to the government, etc., instead of "waiting the decision in the center and considering the response". For this reason, we will provide a basic perspective to look at the Kanmon area after the future decentralization reform, including the so-called “Kanmon Special City” discussion.
