6.Matters related to efforts to improve the quality of education related to the training of teachers.
Shimonoseki City University is making the following efforts to improve the quality of education related to training teachers.
① University-wide cooperation at the Organization for Liberal Arts Education Management Meeting and the Education Division Meeting
The Organization for Liberal Arts Education Management Meeting is a deliberating body for teaching courses. In addition, there is a "Teaching Education Department" as a sub-section, where faculty members in charge of teaching work closely together to discuss and implement ways to improve teacher training.
② School-wide coordination in teaching practice exercises
Multiple teachers in charge of teaching practice exercises cooperate with each other. In addition, practitioners of teaching positions work together and utilize external networks to further improve the quality of education.
③ Teaching Curriculum
Courses provided by the teaching and education department can be taken from elementary and general to professional and practical courses, and a curriculum is designed to provide systematic teacher training.
④ Fine guidance
At the start of the course, Organization for Liberal Arts Education and Educational Affairs Divisiton teachers cooperate to provide guidance on the course. Each year, the beginning of the fiscal year, the end of the spring semester, and the end of the fiscal year, the course counseling sessions are held at the end of the fiscal year. In addition, for hands-on training such as nursing care, "Guidance for nursing care experience application" and "Guidance for nursing care experience training", and for educational training, "Guidance for application for education training" and "Guidance for immediately preceding educational training". We support you so that you can perform better training and experience.
In addition, we have set up a teaching staff office in Educational Affairs Divisiton to provide detailed support.
⑤ Support for prospective teachers
Practical teachers in the teaching education department play a central role in providing support to prospective students, such as lectures on teacher recruitment examinations, instruction on mock classes, and instruction on essays.
⑥ Comprehensive cooperation agreement with Shimonoseki City Board of Education and Naruto University of Education
The conclusion of a comprehensive partnership agreement with Naruto University of Education in 2021 led to the expansion of the range of subjects that students who have taken basic courses in teaching positions at the university after graduation. Furthermore, in 2023, we concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Shimonoseki City Board of Education. As a result, it has become possible to secure educational trainees and actively participate in learning support volunteers, etc., and to provide opportunities to acquire more practical skills.
⑦ Introduction of Mentor System
We will provide opportunities to connect with seniors who are standing at the school site as teachers and seniors who are studying at the Graduate School, etc. We will provide opportunities for students who want to teach to interact with each other across undergraduate grades, such as "Learning for Graduates" and "Wide Consultation", so that senior students can become mentors for lower grades.
⑧ Timely provision of information using ICT
Teachers and teachers in charge of teaching, and Educational Affairs Divisiton teaching staff provide timely information using Googleclassroom. In providing information, not only communication about teaching professions, but also learning support volunteers to improve their qualifications as teachers and training sessions on education, so that students who want to teach can obtain necessary information. I am.
