2006 Public Lectures Implementation Status

Civic University Symposium

Do you know the "town station"? (It's finished)

Let's think about community development together

This year's citizen's university will consider initiatives for regional revitalization through tourism, exchange, and community development and the creation of bases for that purpose. In particular, as a unique means of regional revitalization, we will take up the “town station” that has been developed mainly in Fukuoka Prefecture in recent years, and in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which has been working on in Hagi since June of this year.

Part 1 introduces the concept of "Town Station" and the initiatives in the Amagi Asakura area, Fukuoka Prefecture, which has set up and operates nearly 70 "Town Stations" as a successful example. Part 2 introduces the forefront initiatives on sightseeing, exchange, and revitalization of the central city area in Shimonoseki. In the panel discussion of Part 3, we will discuss the revitalization of the Shimonoseki area through sightseeing, exchange, and community development with teachers from Part 1 and Part 2 as coordinators, with lecturers from Part 1 and Part 2. In Part 4, we will hold an exchange meeting with instructors to exchange community development groups and individuals in Shimonoseki City and Yamaguchi Prefecture.
