A paper in which Professor Kazumi Kubota of Faculty of Data Science participated as a collaborator has been published online in Hypertension Research (2024 Impact Factor: 4.6).

In this study, we analyzed by age group using large-scale real-world data to determine when antihypertensive drugs should be started against hypertension discovered during medical examinations and how the timing will affect future cardiovascular events.

Points of Research

• We analyzed the tracking data of medical examinees and compared the early introduction of antihypertensive drugs and delayed introduction.
• The effects were examined for each younger, middle-aged, and elderly, and suggested that early intervention was effective especially in middle-aged people.
• Provide empirical knowledge that contributes to future primary prevention strategies and guidelines.

"In this study, we aimed to utilize the data obtained from medical examinations that are familiar to anyone, and to draw out useful knowledge for practical clinical practice. Identifying when intervention is most effective with the power of data science is a major theme that will directly lead to the prevention of cardiovascular disease in future.
