Nagahama Seminar Training Report “We conducted joint seminar training mainly in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture”

From July 13 to 14, 25 Faculty of Economics Nagahama Seminars and 15 Haga Seminars, Faculty of Regional Creation, University of Nagasaki, held joint seminar training mainly in Fukutsu City.

1. Visit to the Fukutsu City Future Co-creation Center Kikkake Lab

As a place to "connect" people involved in Fukutsu City, we visited Kikkake Lab, which is engaged in various activities as well as support for social movement groups, and gave lectures from Mr. Nakamura and Mr. Suzuki. The students talked about ideas to be able to participate as easily as possible and continue exchanges, and the students listened with interest.

In the question and answer, various questions were asked, such as how to develop the circle activities to which the student belongs, and they answered carefully. "I tend to aim at aligning my heart, but it's surprisingly difficult. First of all, why don't you pay attention to combining words?", And gave me advice useful for students' future activities.

2. Exchange workshop with high school students in Fukutsu City

The “Community School System”, in which local residents and parents participate in school management nationwide, and together with the community, promotes the creation of distinctive schools, is expanding. In Fukutsu City, "Promotion of disaster prevention education to bring up children who will lead the future" was awarded the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize in 2024 (https://www.mext.go.jp/content/20241225_mxt_chisui02-00038765_4.pdf).

A local high school student who grew up in this community school has been planning various local activities since this year, and as part of this, we decided to create a place where high school students and university students can talk about the future together. At the coordinator Nishida's facilitate, 16 high school students and about 40 university students discussed the theme of "What is important for becoming a sustainable society?" in a world cafe.
It was two hours in a flash, but various opinions were given, such as "connection between people", "participation awareness", and "importance of knowing (education)".

In addition, various topics such as the real life of university students and studying for the exam seemed to be fluttering. The local high school students were pleased with the information obtained through the exchange, saying, "I had a very good time." It was also an opportunity for university students to output the knowledge gained through regular study.

I really took care of the members of the Miyaji District Township Development Council who prepared the venue.

After that, we moved to the Global Arena where we stayed, where we had a day look back and have a barbecue gathering place. I interacted with students from the University of Nagasaki for the first time, and through the activities of the day, they seemed to have deepened their friendship.

3. Visit to 'Ai no Ie' in Fukutsu City

On the morning of the 14th, we visited Ai's house in Tsuyazaki, Fukutsu City, and Mr. Kokan, the representative, talked about the history and issues of the Tsuyazaki area, and the state of Fukutsu during the war.

①Regarding this, the Tsuyazaki area, which flourished as a contact point with the continent, has declined during modernization. We are working to protect the cityscape, but the rebuilding of the building has progressed, and they have specifically talked about the difficulty. ②Mr. Kokan talked passionately about the results that he heard from the local elderly. After the Battle of Okinawa at the end of the war, 500 troops were dispatched to the Tsuyazaki area to prepare for the U.S. military landing. The children of the time looked at the various appearances of the soldiers, among which there was a lot of violence in the army. Because they were a generation who had not experienced war, they talked about what they needed to learn from the memories of the experienced people, and the students listened seriously. It was a history that was not told in textbooks, so the students seemed to be impressed.

4. Visit to Kaizu-ki-en Garden in Koga City

In the afternoon, we visited Kaizu-en, a sludge recycling facility in Koga City, and had the opportunity to explain the facility and visit it. Mr. Koyama-en talked about the history and facilities of the facility. At first, there was a strong opposition to the construction of the human waste treatment facility, but "Isn't opposition to human waste treatment discriminate against the work? Is that OK as an area that has appealed to anti-discrimination? ], He talked about the fact that it has changed to a future-oriented discussion, that it is sanitary as a condition to accept, and that women work Places He talked about the invitation of a factory complex to secure it, and as a result, the extremely rare development of a food processing plant adjacent to a human waste treatment facility.

After the explanation, the staff members were guided to the facility. It is a facility that was just rebuilt in 2023, and the staff of the facility was decided on the interior, considering the visitors and working people. It was impressive to see you proudly talk about the facility.

The students were surprised at the latest facilities of the facility, and seemed impressed by the proud staff members.

5. Visit to Ecolo Forest in Koga City

Finally, we visited the Ecolo Forest in Koga City. This is a garbage incineration facility in Koga City and Fukutsu City, and at the same time, it is also a place for learning with a recycling plaza. We talked about the outline of the facility and the reduction of garbage. It seems that it was an opportunity to review the student's own life, such as the extremely important separation of garbage and the importance of not buying unnecessary things.

In the subsequent facility tour, I was surprised to see a large amount of garbage being disposed of. The attempt at a recycling plaza to sell household disposables at a low price seemed fresh to students.

This time, thanks to the kindness of many stakeholders, we were able to carry out substantial training. In addition to learning on the desk at the university, I was able to visit each site, so I feel that the students' perspective has expanded. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who cooperated with the training during my busy schedule. We would like to continue to develop educational activities that value the connection between the university and the community.
