At 11:00 on February 10, 2017 (Friday), a tree-planting ceremony was held at the I-206 classroom on the second floor of the main building of the university. This time, at the 60th anniversary ceremony held on June 4, 2016, we will plant cherry blossoms presented by the members of the 1st anniversary of the university's Alumni Association. The tree species is sunlight cherry tree. The reason for choosing this tree was that "When Mr. Takaoka, who developed this cherry tree, was a teacher, he sent a number of students to the battlefield, saying, 'Japan will never lose.' However, Japan lost and was exposed to the death of many students throughout the postwar period. Takaoka, who was hurt by that, decided to create cherry blossoms, a proof of his student's life and a symbol of peace, and spread them to the world. For this reason, it is also a symbol of peace, and in hopes of the development of Shimonoseki City University, we selected and presented the sunshine cherry blossoms, "said Mr. Kumayoshi Tanaka, the representative of the first term society. .

　After the ceremony, we moved to the tree-planting site near the main gate and planted it.

　We hope that the war will disappear from all over the world, and that we value the feelings of our seniors who wish for the development of our university, and we will nurture the cherry blossoms that have been given to us.
