#GeneralWe conducted disaster drills.
A disaster drill was held on September 21, 2018 (Friday).
Under the guidance of Shimonoseki City Kita Fire Department, about 150 people participated in the training. In addition, residents of the local Daigakucho Residents' Association and residents of the Shonocho Residents' Association for the first time also participated in the training.
Assuming that the fire incident was associated with the earthquake, a self-defense fire brigade composed of TUFS staff members took each task, including a fire fighting team that went to the location of the fire, a evacuation guidance team that led people on the premises to the campus plaza in evacuation site, and a rescue team that transports injured people and provides first aid.
As outdoor activities, we conducted fire drills using water fire extinguishers and water discharge drills using indoor fire hydrants.
According to the staff, Shimonoseki is a relatively low disaster area, but coastal areas may be hit by a tsunami caused by Nankai megathrust earthquake. There was a guidance on a daily basis to know what kind of actions to be taken in the event of a disaster and what facilities can be used.
- Comments on the activities of the self-defense fire brigade and advice on disaster mitigation
