On August 18 (Sun), at the Chofu Garden, a hands-on learning event "Shimonoseki Whale Summer School" for elementary school students and parents living in the city will be held at Chofu Garden, Cable Net Shimonoseki Co., Ltd. (J: COM Shimonoseki), and Shimonoseki City University Held jointly.

　At the event, a "Shimonoseki Whale Class" was held by Professor Mitsuhiro Kishimoto, a Ph.D. of Tohoku University, to learn about whale ecology and the relationship between Shimonoseki and whales. In the quiz-style lecture, participants were working on unique issues with parents and children.

In addition to the lectures, we also made whale oil candles with our students, toured the Whale Materials Exhibition Room in the Chofu Garden with commentary by Professor Kishimoto, and experienced tea ceremony to enjoy matcha and sweets.
