#Student supportDepartment of Public Management Training for New Students
From April 6 (Sun) to 7 (Mon), 2016, we conducted training for first-year students in Department of Public Management. (Venue: Shimonoseki Municipal Youth House)
This training was held with the aim of deepening bonds between students and building connections with seniors and faculty members through various orientations and eating together. The 2nd to 4th graders of the department participated as facilitators, and supported new students to start their university life with peace of mind.
In the orientation that progressed mainly by senior students, groups were divided, self-introduction games, jump ropes, drawing relays, etc. were held. The tension of the freshmen was relaxed, laughter was raised, and the group was seen working together.
A group discussion was also held to understand Osamu Gaku in Department of Public Management. The new students gathered their opinions, shared them in groups, and started discussions, and seemed to have reduced their anxiety about learning at university.
At the exchange meeting held at the dormitory, new students listened eagerly to senior students about how to take classes, how to class, and club activities.
According to a questionnaire after the training, "I was able to interact with many people and make friends." There were many voices saying, "I was relieved by consultation with senior students."
Finally, we started classes in the spring semester. I hope that new students will be able to have a fulfilling university life with friends and senior students they met during the training.
