Sato (Yu) Seminar conducted a regional survey (Ube City).

On November 27 (Wednesday), 16 third-year students from Sato (Yu) seminar conducted a regional survey in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Sixteen people were divided into four groups, and worked on four themes: commerce (shopping street), tourism (industrial tourism), sixth industrialization (Ube Genki brand), and emigration and settlement.

First of all, at the Ube City Office, we interviewed the person in charge on each theme. Although there were some unfamiliar parts in the first survey, I think that I was able to achieve the results of my study little by little. In addition, after the interview, there was a group who actually went to see the site with the person in charge.
After that, we moved to Tokiwa Park and had lunch, and toured the Ube City Coal Memorial Hall in the park. Many students did not know that there was a coal field in Ube, and listened interestingly to the explanation of curator Kimiki Hirohata. In addition, we looked at Ube's urban area and the Seto Inland Sea from observation deck, which was built by relocating a pit tower that had been active until the closure of the mine.

Finally, we visited Ube Sangyo Co-creation Innovation Center Shi (UBE START UP) and asked about the outline of the business. The students seemed to feel that starting a business would be one of their careers, as they were in the latter half of their third year and became aware of job hunting. It seemed to be inspired by the fact that there were other university students who were thinking about starting a business.

Many students took the interview survey for the first time, but at first it seemed to be nervous at first. However, it seemed interesting to hear and tell the local people, and to actually check with their own eyes, and I think there were many things to gain. Also, he felt that he often did not know even if he was in the same Yamaguchi Prefecture. With only a year and a half left university life, I would like you to visit various areas to fill in what you do not know. And I think that students will take various jobs in the future, but I want them to visit the site, listen carefully to the stories of the parties concerned, and remember the importance and fun of thinking carefully.

Thank you to Ube City Hall, Mr. Hirohata of Ube City Coal Memorial Hall, and UBE START UP for their cooperation.
