From 2024, the JASSO scholarship system will be revised for the following three points, and support will be expanded.

１．Expansion of the scope of the new system for supporting higher education to middle class

Regarding the “New System for Higher Education Study Support”, which provides tuition reduction and exemptions and benefits-type scholarships as a set, has been expanded to the middle class of multi-child households from the viewpoint of child care support, etc. It is also expanded to the middle class.

<Supports>
・The target of the new support category is up to 6 million yen per household (model case).
・Multi-child households support: For households with three or more dependent children
・Scientific and agriculture support: Undergraduate schools and departments that extend academic disciplines are also eligible if science, engineering, or agriculture are included in the fields of the degree to be awarded.

<Supply level>
・Multi-child households support: 1/4 support of full support
・Scientific and agriculture support: Difference between tuition fees and humanities
　※Focusing on the difference in tuition fees from the humanities and social sciences, we provide support for private schools.

２．Establishment of a post-payment system at the master's level

A system will be established to pay tuition fees according to the income after graduation. Payment after graduation is especially given to ensure that the payment during the child-rearing period is not excessive.

<Targets>
➀Those who have entered graduate schools in Japan since FY2024 and who wished to apply through their current school.
➁Those who meet the same household standards and academic performance standards as those of the First Class Scholarship of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
➂Those who have no reason for not being able to receive the first class scholarship, such as the return of scholarships lent in the past is overdue.

※For FY2024, in addition to the above, only those who fall under the following are eligible. New students who have been enrolled in the spring of 2024 and have been eligible for the new study support system at the undergraduate school and have entered graduate school without employment. If the graduate school suspends the collection of tuition until autumn, the student will be subject to the tuition fee starting in April 2024 based on his / her request.

<Upper limit of tuition fees that can be paid "postpayment">
・For national and public schools, the standard amount of national tuition fees (approximately 540,000 yen)

<Payment after graduation>
・Annual income based on income: About 3 million yen
・If the above annual income is exceeded: Payment of 9% of taxable income
・Provided, however, that for dependent children, adequacy deduction shall be established.
　➜If there are two children, payment according to income will not be started up to an annual income of about 4 million yen.
※Can be used if the student's annual income is less than 3 million yen.

３．Review of reduced refund system for loan-type scholarships

Regarding the system to reduce the amount of monthly refund in fixed-rate refund (* total refund does not change), requirements will be flexible.

・Increase the maximum available annual income (¥ 3.25 million or less; ➜ 4 million yen or less)
・Increased refund options (1/2 or 1/3(➜ 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4):
