Increasing IELTS scores is a must for students who wish to study abroad in English-speaking countries. In this fiscal year, we held 10 online lessons aimed at acquiring IELTS 5.0, one set in the spring and autumn semesters.

Intercultural Understanding Program

Let's know the world while staying in Japan! !

People from various countries and have lived in that country with the aim of letting students of Shimonoseki City University and local residents know what is happening around the world, how they live, and historical matters. It is a plan to have people talk to.

1st: Listening to New Zealand in English

Dr. Paul Collett from New Zealand (teacher of Shimonoseki City University) spoke in English about the history, culture, people's lives, and the current state of New Zealand.

2nd session: The wind of Africa ☆Talk & Mini Live ~ Shining of Life from Kenya ~ Chiaki Hayakawa and Masaya Onishi's Polepole Caravan 2022

We welcomed Chiaki Hayakawa, who is active in Kibera Slam (Kenya), and talked about the children and their families studying at a school built in a slum town in Kenya, as well as the people who support them with Africa. In addition, Masaya Onishi, who has trained drums in Africa and has been active as a professional musician, was also welcomed, and touched African music through a guitar and song session by Chiaki and Masaya.

Let's learn the essence of Japanese culture! !

This is a project to encourage all students, including international students, to experience Japanese culture with the aim of raising their interest in Japanese culture and having them understand.

1st: A mini-bura trip around the castle town Chofu with Rakugo writer Chiyo Katsura Takechiyo

We welcomed Rakugo artist Chiyo Katsuratake and strolled together with the castle town Chofu, where the festival is held for the first time in three years. We tasted the scenery along the Danku River and toured Memiya Shrine, Mohri House, Gong Yamadera, and Shimonoseki City History Museum. At Gong Yamadera, I also enjoyed the rakugo story of Rakugo writer Chiyo Katsuratake.

2nd session: Let's wear kimono and experience Nihon Buyo in kimono! !

I wore kimono such as yukata, learned the manners of kimono, and experienced Nihon Buyo. With the support of the Shimo-Kansai Rotary Club, we received kimono from the Chikage store, etc., and danced "Hanagasa Ondo" under the guidance of Dr. Yoshikazu Hanayagi, Yoshihiro Hanayagi, and Chika Mai Hanayagi.

Study Abroad Experience Presentation

This is a project to have students who have completed their study abroad and have returned to announce their experiences with the aim of having them think about their study abroad experience.

Once in the spring semester and twice in the fall semester, students who returned to Japan after completing their studies abroad gave presentations on their experiences. In the spring semester, students who studied abroad in Busan University of Foreign Studies (Korea) and in the fall semester, students who studied at Dong-eui University Korea and Griffith University (Australia) in the fall semester.

With the aim of providing students with the opportunity to think concretely about international sensibility and job hunting, what they have learned through international experiences while attending school, how that experience is useful in society, and working adults This is a plan to give a lecture on what you want to convey to your juniors as a member.
