Faculty of Economics

The Characteristics of Faculty of Economics's Learning

Learning to expand future possibilities

Faculty of Economics, Shimonoseki Municipal University, is one of the largest undergraduate school of Faculty of Economics, and has a variety of subjects related to economics, business administration and commerce. You can take the courses you need and the courses you want to learn from a wide range of elective courses.

Specifically, from the first and second years, students study the basic subjects of each department firmly, and then select the subjects you want to learn from the applied subjects (major application) of each department. You are free to study subjects in a wide range of fields and broaden your horizons, or to focus on specific specialties. You can also study specialized subjects from other departments or increase the number of language courses. In the 3rd and 4th year specialized exercises (seminars), teachers belonging to other departments can be selected as their supervisors and work on their graduation thesis.

Learning to broaden the horizons of the world

I aim to broaden my horizons from Shimonoseki to East Asia and even the world. Many subjects related to international and East Asia are also placed in Department of Economics and Department of International Commerce to deepen their understanding of international relations.

In Faculty of Economics, you can take Korean and Chinese as the first foreign language. Located in Shimonoseki, which has developed as a port city, NAIST has an exchange agreement with universities around the world. Through the training and study abroad programs, there are opportunities to further enhance language skills and international perspectives.

Open-Graduation options

Faculty of Economics aims to acquire knowledge and skills related to the economy, society, and companies that can be utilized in various fields, as well as the ability and consciousness for social independence. The career path after graduation is not limited to financial institutions and trading companies, but extends to various industries and occupations.

3 Department system and 3 departments aspiring system

We have established three departments: Department of Economics, which learns deeply economics, Department of International Commerce, which studies deeply in commerce and business administration, and Department of Public Management, studying economics, commerce, and business administration, and others.

Students belong to one of the departments, but there are many subjects common to multiple departments, and students can also take courses from other departments. In one part of the entrance examination category (school recommendation type selection (nationwide / regional B) and general selection schedule for the first half of the general selection), we have introduced a three-part application system. You can apply for the second and third subjects you wish to study, and after enrollment, you can also take the courses you want to learn from other departments.
