A symposium commemorating the establishment of Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Data Science was held on October 12.

At the symposium, President Akimichi Takemura of Shiga University, a pioneer in data science education in Japan, was invited to give a commemorative lecture entitled "Data Science Education in Universities".

The panel discussion was attended by President Akimichi Takemura of Shiga University, Special Professor YAMANE Satoshi of Faculty of Data Science of TUFS, Kotaro Fujii, General Manager of the Management Planning Office of Suncue Drag Co., Ltd., Deputy Mayor Yohei Kitajima of Shimonoseki City, and Yoshiyuki Matsumoto of Shimonoseki City University Faculty of Data Science who served as coordinator.

In the panel discussion, various opinions were expressed from their respective specialties and experiences, and lively discussions were held on the theme of "Contributing to the Community with Faculty of Data Science, City Policy and Cooperation with Companies".

On the day, about 170 people, including students, participated, and it was a fruitful symposium where many people listened eagerly.
