On June 7, 2015 (Sun), the opening ceremony of 2015 Shimonoseki Future University and the first lecture were held with the following contents, and many citizens attended.

　Shimonoseki Future University has been co-hosted with Shimonoseki City since 2012, providing a variety of courses centered on themes specializing in Shimonoseki as an open learning place. From June to October, 10 courses in each department will be held, and on the last day more than two-thirds of those who attended will be awarded a certificate of completion.
