At 11:00 on Friday, February 10, 2017 a tree-planting ceremony was held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the university in the classroom I-206 on the second floor of the main building. At the 60th anniversary ceremony of the University's founding held on June 4, 2016, we will plant cherry blossoms presented by the members of the 1st Annual Meeting of the Alumni Association. The tree species is sunlight cherry. As a reason for choosing this tree, he said, "When Takaoka, who developed this cherry tree, was a teacher, he sent several students to the battlefield, saying, 'Japan will never lose.' However, Japan lost the war and suffered the death of many students throughout the war. Mr. Takaoka, who was hurt by this, decided to create cherry blossoms, which are proof of the life of his student and a symbol of peace, and spread them to the world. For this reason, it is also a symbol of peace, and in hope of the development of Shimonoseki City University, we selected and presented Yokozakura. ", Mr. Kumayoshi Tanaka, the president of the 1st session.

　After the ceremony, we moved to the main gate, a tree planting site, and planted it.

　We hope that there will be no war from all over the world, and we value the feelings of seniors who wish for the development of our university, and we will carefully nurture the gifted cherry blossoms.
