Consultation and Support Center

Reasonable accommodation

In order to enable students who have difficulty studying for some reason, such as disability or illness, to study in the same environment as other students, Consultation and Support Center provides consideration and support as necessary based on the Guidelines for Supporting Persons with Disabilities and the Guidelines for Providing Reasonable Considerations at Shimonoseki City University.

In some cases, there may be situations where you feel difficulties in the new environment of university, and needs may arise due to advancement and the content of Osamu Gakushu becomes advanced. We also accept consultations for those who have already received support.

The content of the support varies depending on the student's situation and the content of the problem. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to consult alone and do not hesitate to consult.

What is reasonable accommodation?

Based on the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Elimination of Discrimination Due to Disability", those who need consideration will need some kind of response to remove barriers (social barriers) in society. When it is communicated, it is to respond within a range where the burden is not too heavy.

Reasonable accommodations at universities are necessary and appropriate changes and adjustments made by universities, etc., in order to ensure that students with disabilities enjoy and exercise their "right to receive education" equally with others. It is necessary individually when receiving education at universities, etc., and does not impose an excessive burden on universities, etc., in terms of system and financial aspects.

"People who need attention"

Persons with physical, intellectual, mental and physical disabilities (including developmental disabilities) and other mental and physical disabilities, who are continuously subject to considerable restrictions on daily life or social life due to social barriers, etc., are eligible for all those who participate in education and research at the University and other activities conducted by the University.

Application for reasonable accommodation

The application for reasonable accommodation begins with a request from the student himself. In addition, what kind of consideration can be received depends on the symptoms and conditions of each disability and disease. Therefore, in order to apply for consideration, in principle, it is necessary to submit a certificate of disability, medical certificate, test results, etc.
