Okayama University's business plan has been selected as one of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Support for Enhancement of Universities and College of Technology (MEXT). In the selection process, "Curriculum setting based on social needs" was evaluated as a noteworthy content.

This project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) has established a new fund to provide flexible and continuous support.

In April 2024, OIST plans to establish Faculty of Data Science (tentative name: under application for approval) in April 2024 to foster human resources who will support the future through the realization of higher quality education.
