Study Abroad (Student Study Abroad)

Once you have decided to be a temporary student

From the decision to study abroad to departure

  1. Understand the situation of the destination country
    Register for "Tabiregister".
    Understand the status of the dispatched country on the websites of the consulates and embassy in Japan.
    ※ Don't fail to check the status of the destination country until you leave.
  2. Make a plan for future course.
    ①Check the subjects you have taken.
    ② Check the subjects (units) to be acquired before graduation.
    ③ Check the subjects that can be taken at the university where they are dispatched.
    ④ Registration for courses to be acquired by the time of departure.
  3. Obtain documents proving the language level required to take the course at the destination university.
    Submit your language level certificate to the destination three to four months before you start your study abroad.
    If you have not achieved the language skills required by that date, you will not be able to study abroad.
  4. I'm in good shape.
    If you have a chronic illness, consult with your doctor and plan a treatment plan while studying abroad.
    I'll finish my dental treatment. (End the treatment of tooth decay and wisdom.)
  5. Make a plan for studying abroad.
    Calculate the expenses required for studying abroad and consult with your family about the payment method.
    If you wish to lend a scholarship from the Japan Student Services Organization, please apply by the deadline.
  6. Housing
    If you are currently living in an apartment, consult with your family about the handling of the apartment you are studying abroad and make arrangements.
  7. Part-time job
    If you are working part-time, consult with your part-time job about retirement.
    ※ In principle, you will not be able to work part-time in your country where you study abroad.
  8. Attend a student briefing session every month.
  9. Make a global mission program plan.
  10. Apply to study abroad at the destination university.
    Apply for a transcript in English. (3-4 months before the start of study abroad)
  11. Consult with the faculty in charge of seminars (specialized exercises I and II) about guidance during the study abroad program.
  12. Apply for a Study Abroad Visa. (After receiving the permission to study abroad from the host university)
    ※Preparation for visa application will begin after submitting an application for study abroad at the university.
  13. Arrange flight tickets for travel.
  14. Perform the departure procedure at the university.
    ① Take out overseas study insurance with Gakken disaster (foreign travel insurance). (Required)
    ②We will carry out procedures to receive support funds for overseas study abroad.
    ③ Submit “Departure Notification (prescribed form)”.
    ④ Submit “Notification of Contact Information during Study Abroad (prescribed form)”.
  15. Consult with Career Center Division about job hunting during and after returning to Japan.
  16. Give a departure greeting. (University, seminar teachers, etc.)

From the start of study abroad to return to Japan

  1. Download and register the iSearch app for i-Search app.
  2. Please inform us that you have arrived safely at the destination university.
    (Parents, seminar teachers, International Exchange Center, etc.)
  3. Check your emergency contact information.
    Telephone numbers of police and ambulances in the destination country, collect call methods, etc.
  4. Apply for a "Resident Registration" to the Consulate General (a diplomatic mission abroad).
  5. Always collect information on personal safety and global affairs.
    Understand the status of the dispatched country on the website of the Japanese Embassy and consulates in the country where you are dispatched.
    ※ Don't fail to check the status of the destination country.
  6. We will keep close contact with International Exchange Center and other universities.
  7. When visiting a country other than the destination university is located, or temporarily returning to Japan temporarily.
    ① Perform procedures for "re-entry permit" in the destination country
    ➁ Submit “Travel Notification (Predetermined Form)” and “Temporary Return Notification (Predetermined Form)”.
  8. They are actively engaged in activities at universities.
    Actively conduct Gaku Osamu, deepen understanding, and strive to achieve good results.
    We are committed to the global mission program.
    Actively participate in circle activities, international exchange events, volunteer activities, etc.
  9. The monthly report to International Exchange Center. (monthly)

Just before returning to Japan

  1. You have to pay for everything. (Rent, mobile phone fee, Internet usage fee, etc.)
  2. If you have opened a bank account on site, complete the account cancellation procedure.
  3. Receive or mail three transcripts at the destination university.
    (1 copy for student course report, one for credit compatibility, one for student)
    ※ If there is a grade vote for each semester, two copies are required.
    ※ In order to apply for credits, a syllabus for each subject is required.
  4. I will report my return schedule to my Japanese family.
  5. Submit the "Return Report (prescribed form)" and return flight information to International Exchange Center.
  6. Give thanks to the people who took care of them and return to Japan without forgetting anything.

After returning to Japan

  1. I would like to report that I have returned safely. (International Exchange Center, Faculty in charge of seminar, etc.)
  2. Submit the “Departmented Student Course Report (Predetermined Form)” and one “Transcript” issued by the host university. (Submit to International Exchange Center - within 2 weeks after returning to Japan)
  3. Answer the "Return Questionnaire" for returning international students, submit their experiences of studying abroad (up to 1,200 characters) and photos taken during the study abroad program. (Submit to International Exchange Center -within 4 weeks after returning to Japan)
  4. Submit the “Application for Credit Certification (Predetermined Form)”, “Transcript” of the host university, and the syllabus of the subjects taken at the host university.

     Application deadline: Dispatched international students who departed from August to September (for one year studying abroad) August 30
     Application deadline: Dispatched international students who departed from February to March (for one year study abroad) Around January 30
    ※Studying abroad is one of the most important objectives of the program. Please be sure to complete the credit certification procedure by the deadline.
  5. I will make a plan after returning to Japan.
  6. I will consult with you about future job hunting. (Career Center Division)
  7. Students will give a presentation at the study abroad experience presentation.
  8. Report the results at the Global Mission Program Report Meeting.
