We conducted a survey and hands-on tour of "Chofu Town Development"

On November 24, 2013, a total of six students and three faculty members, participated in a survey and hands-on tour of Chofu Castle Town, led by faculty members in charge of the Regional Research Division of the Regional Co-creation Center in the neighborhood of Chofu Castle Town.

Purpose of Activities

In this activity, students who are interested in community improvement activities in Shimonoseki City, etc., actually walk, see, and think about the way of community development activities in Chofu, where Professor Tsuchiya has been involved for a long time. The purpose is to learn from hearing surveys on the activities of the group and to provide opportunities to think at the site of community improvement. As a next step in the future, we aim to link students to continuously participate in actual various community development activities in Shimonoseki City.

Schedule and specific contents of the day

Schedule is 13:30 Departure from the university bus. → 14:00 Arrived in Chofu, 14: 00-15: 00 Street survey (history, culture, industry, etc.), 15:00-16: 00 Hearing survey (local town development group), 16:00-18: 30 Inspection and investigation of "Colorful Castle Town Chofu / Autumn" (lighted up), 19:00 arrived at the university, dissolved.
Specifically, we conducted a survey of the city and a hearing survey of the community improvement organization, "Dynamo-Chofu Moriage Corps-". In the city survey, based on the commentary of Professor Kimura and Professor Tsuchiya, we surveyed and walked around the central shopping streets such as Koyamadera and Chofu Museum, Animiya Shrine, Nogi Shrine, Kakuenji Temple, Chofu Clan Samurai Yashiki Nagaya, Nogi-san Street and Hitokoi Yokomachi. I took a walk. In the evening, we visited the “Colorful Castle Town Nagafu / Autumn” (lighted up), which was conducted as a community improvement project, toured the “Colorful Castle Town Chofu / Autumn” (lighted up), which was conducted as a community improvement project.

Feelings

The participating students this time were two third graders and one fourth graders, but students who came to the town of Chofu for the first time, or even if they had come, they did not have any experience of strolling around the city. This survey and hands-on tour was a good opportunity to learn about Chofu's community development, and it was a great study.
On the other hand, Nagafu's `` space '', which encompasses social elements such as economy, culture, history, tourism, and community development, is a valuable learning place and site for students at Shimonoseki City University. It is not used very effectively for university education and community development contributions, and it is a wasteful thing as a university in Shimonoseki City. From now on, in university education, it is thought that it will be an issue for the future to further increase opportunities for students to learn from community development initiatives in Chofu, Shimonoseki City and surrounding municipalities.

At Koh Yamadera
At the Dangu River

In addition, a mailing list, `` Shimonoseki City '' aims to actively provide students interested in community development with information on community development involving community co-creation centers, etc., and link them to participation in actual community development activities. Large community improvement network (community improvement net) "was established in community co-creation center. This activity information was also distributed as the first step in the community development net.
