Training for freshmen in Department of Public Management

A new student training program for first-year students in Department of Public Management was held from April 6 to 7 (Tue), 2015. (Place: Shimonoseki City Youth House)

This training was held with the aim of deepening bonds between students and creating connections with seniors and faculty and staff through various orientations and sleeping together. 2nd to 4th graders from the department participated as facilitators and supported them so that they could start college life with peace of mind.

In the orientation led by senior students, group divisions, self-introduction games, Shimonoseki City University quiz, jump rope, drawing relay, etc. were held. The tension of the new students was relaxed, laughter rose, and the group was seen working together.

A group discussion was also held in Department of Public Management to understand Gaku Osamu. The new students gathered their opinions and received advice from senior students, and started a group discussion. The anxiety about learning at the university in the future seemed to be reduced.

At the exchange meeting held after dinner, new students listened enthusiastically to stories from senior students about how to take classes, classes, and club activities.

According to the questionnaire after the training, new students said, "It was a good opportunity to make friends." "There were many group activities and exchanges, the anxiety was resolved, and it was fun." There were many voices such as "I was relieved by consulting with senior students and I was relieved." Senior students also commented, "I was able to realize my growth."

Finally, the spring semester class has begun. I hope that new students will be able to enjoy a fulfilling university life with friends and senior students they met during the training.
