On November 12 (Thursday), a special open class (health) was held with the invitation of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Women's Visually Impaired Marathon Recommendation Player "Misato Michishita".
　On the day of the event, about 300 students and the general public participated.
　Since the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities will come into effect on April 1, 2016, OIST is considering ways to accept students with disabilities. Michishita introduced how they are working on marathon competitions as persons with disabilities and how evacuation guidance should be for visually impaired persons at fire sites.
　Students who participated in the class said, "It was the first time to think about disaster prevention from the standpoint of persons with disabilities."
　After the class, Yuo Kajitani, the chairman of the physical education, gave Michishita a Hinomaru with a message of support for the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games.
