On Sunday, May 27, 2018 a total of 24 students and faculty members participated in a beach cleanup event held at Oura Beach, Nagato City. According to the organizer, Yamaguchi Prefecture representative, the total amount of garbage collected was 3.9 tons, and there was a large amount of plastic waste such as plastic tanks. From the students who participated, "There was more garbage than I expected." And "The scaffolding was poor, seagrass and garbage were intertwined, making it difficult to pick up." The students seemed to have had a meaningful time because they could interact with students from other universities in the prefecture.
