On February 9, 2019 (Saturday), the 11th Whale Archives Symposium "Why are you not interested in whaling issues?" at the I-206 classroom of the main building of the university. -Joji Morishita, the representative of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) of Japan! -It was held.
In this symposium, we invited Joji Morishita, the representative of the Japanese government of the International Whaling Commission (IWC), and in the keynote speech of Part 1, Mr. Joji Morishita said, "Can whales be caught? Is it bad? He gave a very valuable talk about the current situation of whaling and the process leading to the withdrawal of IWC, entitled "Whaling I Want to Tell Students".
After a break, in the second part of the symposium, "Why are you not interested in whaling?" -Joji Morishita, the representative of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) of Japan! -Under the theme of this symposium, Mr. Mitsuhiro Kishimoto (a researcher commissioned by the Regional Co-creation Center attached to Shimonoseki City University), Mr. Joji Morishita, Mr. Junko Kojima, manager of Shimonoseki Whale Museum, and Mr. Yukino Aosaki and Maho Yoshizawa, representing our university, participated in a questionnaire survey to students in advance.
More than 130 participants, including students, listened enthusiastically, and it was a very fruitful symposium.
The Whale Archives, together with the Fuku Archives, will contribute to the community by further encouraging research and enhancing the materials in the future. We look forward to your continued understanding and cooperation in the future.
