Conducted disaster prevention drills

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023 disaster drills were held for the first time in four years after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the guidance of Shimonoseki City North Fire Department, approximately 120 people, including students, faculty and staff, and local residents, participated in the disaster drill.

In the self-defense fire brigade activities conducted on the 4th floor of the Main Building II Building, the initial fire-fighting team and the evacuation guidance team rushed to the site of the alarm detection and fire alarmevacuation guidancefire incident. In addition, the self-defense fire brigade consisting of OIST staff members took over their duties, such as guiding students in the building to the front entrance of the main building I building in evacuation site, carrying out emergency measures.
After that, firefighters explained the use of indoor fire hydrants, and as outdoor activities, they conducted water discharge training using indoor fire hydrants and fire drills using water fire extinguishers as outdoor activities.

As a comment from Shimonoseki City North Fire Department staff, although it was well done as a whole, it may not be possible to go through training in an actual emergency, and put a handkerchief on your mouth and keep a low posture. There was guidance.
