The 2016 Shimonoseki City University Citizen's University Open Lecture "Discussion the News" and "Social Security and Finance in Japan" were held on May 26 (Thursday).

　In the "Discussion of the News" course, we had a discussion in English with Professor Paul Collette, a specially appointed professor at the University, and spent a time pickled in English that I couldn't usually taste. The "Discussion of the News" course will be offered six times by June 30.
　In the lecture on "Social Security and Finance in Japan", Professor Shintaro Nakagawa, an associate professor of TUFS, talked about the role of local communities in social security in Japan and the widening gap between local governments in long-term care insurance premiums and national health insurance premiums. Everyone listened enthusiastically, and there were questions about the consumption tax, which is a hot topic, so it was a fulfilling course.
